Semen for sale from recently launched Sterling Sires Angus bull
Semen is now available from one of Sterling Sires’ highest ranking Aberdeen-Angus bulls for calving ease, rib eye area, Terminal and Self Replacing Index.
Melview Granville L076 is a son of Nightingale Qbec H420 who has had semen exported to 10 countries worldwide and is out of Tegsnose Geraldine C095 who was reserve champion at the Three Counties Show in 2009 and is still in the top 5% of the breed for both Terminal and Self Replacing Index despite being two months off her tenth birthday. His performance figures include a calving ease of +7, a rib eye area of +7, a TSI of +45 and a SRI of +65.
Granville has both conventional semen and heifer plus semen available now. Heifer Plus is a new enzyme that is being added to semen at collection and early data shows a rise in conception rates and a shift to around 75% heifer calves. Commenting on Granville his breeder and co-owner Paul Westaway said: “The Angus breed has some wonderful unique selling points for all of our customers, but when you get a bull that excels in calving ease, great growth and wonderful rib eye area, it is another opportunity for breeders to enhance these key traits in their herds. Granville was a great calf when he was born and had the largest eye muscle area we have ever scanned here at Melview Angus. The fact that he is available to all breeders with the option of Heifer Plus is really exciting for us and the breed.”
Granville is co-owned with Steve and Lucy Cook of the Petersfinger herd,Salisbury, who purchased a 50% share in him as a calf. Granville semen is available now from Sterling Sires Ltd.
