The Society is saddened to record the passing of Rosan Porter, a dedicated member of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society and the South East Club since 1980. Rosan was an active exhibitor, a long-serving Club committee member, Chairman in 2006–07, and a Society Council member in the early 2000s.
At Gaston Wood Farm she developed the Gaston Wood Aberdeen-Angus herd and became known internationally for her sound judgement and forward-thinking approach. She travelled widely, visited herds around the world, and was among the first to introduce embryos from abroad, helping to broaden the breed’s gene pool in the UK. Her cattle enjoyed success at shows, including Newbury.
Rosan was also quietly generous, supporting several charities. Her decision to donate her herd to Jamie’s Farm stands as a lasting example of her commitment to helping others.
She will be warmly remembered for her dedication, knowledge and generosity.
