Gayle Bersey wins the Cornwall Farm Business Awards Best Woman in Farming 2018

27.04.2018

Gayle Bersey is a name that a lot of you will be very familiar with as a regular on the show and sale scene and the very hard-working programme co-ordinator of our hugely successful Youth Development Programme. We’ve recently learned that Gayle was announced as the winner of the Best Woman in Farming for 2018 at the Cornwall Farm Business Awards, a magnificent achievement for which all at the Society send our congratulations! Gayle runs the Lynher Valley Aberdeen-Angus herd which was founded in 1994 on the retirement of her parents. Gayle’s Grandfather and Father has previously founded the RYTHA herd in 1960. Having a shallow soil farm, they needed a breed that would thrive on less favourable conditions, and therefore Aberdeen-Angus fitted the bill.

Angela McGregor the Society President commented on Gayle’s achievement, saying:

“We are so pleased for Gayle, she deserves recognition for everything she does. She is a huge asset to The Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society and has grown our Youth Development Programme to be the envy of other breeds. Gayle always gets the job done and is very driven in developing the next generation of cattle enthusiasts, and always sees potential and encourages those coming through the programme whether they have an Aberdeen-Angus background or not. Her own business and show successes with her Lynher Valley herd farmed near Looe in Cornwall is testament to her talent and great ability. It’s wonderful and fitting that her accomplishments have been recognised in this way and Gayle should be very proud of what she has achieved.”

We’re sure we speak on behalf of all the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society members when we extend warm congratulations to Gayle on her achievement!
