This week saw the 2018 World Steak Challenge take place where international steak producers come together to highlight the quality and standards of steak production around the globe. From an Aberdeen-Angus point of view, the world’s best grain-fed went to OSI International Holding GmbH of Germany for an Angus ribeye which was based on Aberdeen-Angus genetics, and there were also very strong Aberdeen-Angus representatives receiving gold, silver and bronze medals in the competition. To name but a few, there were bronze medals for ABP, ABP Ireland and Scotbeef for their grass-fed sirloin, silver for Landgasthof Sonne, Familie Delle of Donaumoos Angus in Germany, Kettyle Irish Foods and Martin Jennings Wholesale, and gold medals for Albers, Foyle Food Group and Tendermeats. We’d like to say congratulations to all winners, all of whom can be view by clicking here.
Pictured below is Martin Delle of Donaumoos Angus in Germany who won a silver medal at the challenge. Martin’s father, Bernhard Delle, bred the heifer in Donaumoos Angus and Martin is the butcher who cut the steak, so a great family effort on this one!
