Passionate farmer, Ken Howie, who runs the 32-cow Cairnton herd of pedigree Aberdeen-Angus cattle is the driving force behind the new tourist trail. Based in Cairnton Farm, Forfar, Ken identified a great opportunity to promote one of the North-East’s most iconic brands and drive more visitors to the area.

The trail features ten locations in Angus and Aberdeenshire linked to the breed, starting at Glamis Castle in Angus and ending at Ballindalloch Castle in Banffshire. Each stop in the trail is of great significance to the breed, from places to try some of the finest Aberdeen-Angus treats to places of historical importance such as Glamis Castle, home of the late Queen Mother, who was a patron for our breed. The trail also includes a stop to visit the prized McGregor Aberdeen-Angus herd.

The Aberdeen-Angus trail is for farmers, ‘foodies’ or just someone who enjoys the finest beef and is looking to learn where it comes from. It really is a great trail to explore.
