Claiming the Aberdeen Angus supreme championship at the 73rd Saintfield Show was the Matchett family’s senior cow Cheeklaw Black Beauty N458.

This five-year-old cow was sired by the Irish-bred Bunlahy Bilty G202, and is bred from Cheeklaw Black Bonnie G281. She was breed champion at Antrim Show in 2017.

The champion was shown with her two-month-old heifer calf at foot. Birches Black Beauty U581 was sired by Carrigroe Fred, and stood first in the calf class at the County Down event.

Claiming the reserve championship was the December 2016 heifer Corriewood Lucy Lady S275 exhibited by Emily Peters from Castlewellan. Sired by the home-bred Corriewood Path of Life P763, she was reserve champion at Lurgan Show in early June.
