The Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association and the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society is pleased to announce that the 14 month old bull, Mogeely Memo S467 (pictured above) bred by Albert & Jennifer DeCogan, Killamuckey, Castlemartyr, Co. Cork has been exported to Romania for pedigree breeding. The bull was sold after his championship win at the recent National Aberdeen-Angus Calf Show and was purchased by Maramures Angus, Romania to stand as herd sire for their 30 cow pedigree herd. The Romanian buyer is a well-known businessman and had been tracking the many successes of this particular bull online and through social media. A high profile private deal, believed to be a significant undisclosed sum, was finalised in the last month, with the bull arriving in Romania in mid November.
Sired by the AI bull, Wall Royal Leo L837 and out of the prolific show cow, Mogeely Miylo P291, the bull himself has compiled an impressive record of championship wins including the overall junior championship at the 2017 All-Ireland Aberdeen-Angus Finals, the reserve junior male championship at the 2017 National Livestock Show, Tullamore and the supreme male championship at the 2017 National Aberdeen-Angus Calf Show.
This latest success caps an extraordinary year for the well-known Mogeely Aberdeen-Angus herd which also saw the DeCogans take the overall supreme senior championship at the National Livestock Show, Tullamore and the 2017 Munster Provincial Trophy as well as topping the trade at the Premier Autumn sale in Carrick-on-Shannon last month.
