This year’s Youth Development Programme raffle was a great success, with such brilliant participation levels allowing us to raise a considerable amount of funding for the YDP, helping us continue this brilliant initiative which is so valued by all who attend, and equally by us all here at the Society.
The total sum raised was an impressive £3,740, so a huge thank you is extended to everyone who bought a ticket!
There were some magnificent prizes up for grabs through the raffle. The details of the prizes and the prize winners were as follows:
1st prize: The top prize was a heifer from the Newcairnie Aberdeen-Angus Herd which was very kindly donated by Society Senior Vice President, Angela McGregor. The winner of the first prize was Ruby Smith from Barham, to whom we’d like to pass on our congratulations! We look forward to catching up with Ruby at a later date to get some information about how the heifer has progressed and her reaction to having been selected as the winner.
2nd prize: The second prize was 5 straws of Idvies Fusion semen, kindly donated by F J Fraser and Son, who expressed their pride in contributing to the Aberdeen-Angus Youth Development Programme. The winner of the semen was Laura Stephen from Norfolk, who was one of the speakers at our senior conference in February – congratulations Laura! Idvies Fusion is sired by the 24,000gns Perth February 2009 Intermediate Champion Lockerley Legolas and proves to have fantastic growth and carcass traits. This semen is not yet on the market and should make a great addition to any herd.
3rd prize: The third prize was an Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society branded jacket which was won by James Munro of Ross-shire. Congratulations James, we hope you enjoy your jacket just on time for the cold weather coming rolling in!
Thanks you very much to all who took part in the raffle, your ticket purchases have raised a great amount of money for the YDP and are appreciated by everyone involved.
