It was a successful day for the Aberdeen-Angus breed at Stokesley show on Saturday and Adrian and Penny Jonhson’s Yearsley herd in particular, with Haymount Earth Smith R550 taking the overall championship. By Gretnahouse Blacksmith, he was purchased at Stirling in February and won the supreme interbreed championship by one point after impressing the panel of judges who had previously judged their respective breed sections earlier in the day.
Placed reserve champion by Jack Arnott who was making his judging debut was the yearling bull Jackrock Elgin R007. By Abberton Dazzle G160 he came from new breeders Gary Bircham and Jack Rock.
Further success for the breed came when the interbreed pairs was won by Will and Sophie Chrystal with their pair of yearling heifers, Wingate Grange Polly Pride R001 and Wingate Grange Estella R002. Both of these heifers were again by Abberton Dazzle G160.
