The Mogeely Aberdeen-Angus herd of Albert and Jennifer DeCogan, Killamuckey, Castlemartyr, Co. Cork, will host an open day in conjunction with the Munster Abedeen-Angus Club on Sunday, September 11th at 2pm.
The Mogeely herd is one of the best-known herds in Ireland with a prolific record of championships on the Irish show circuit to its credit, including the recent 2016 All-Ireland Aberdeen-Angus Championship with present herd sire Wedderlie Blackbox J935 and the 2016 Munster Provincial Trophy with Mogeely Miylo P291.
Founded in 1985, the herd has grown steadily over the intervening years and now stands at 80 cows and followers. The entire herd, including a crop of yearling bulls, will be on display on the day. The event will also play host to the prize-giving of the 2016 Munster Aberdeen-Angus herds competition. Prizes will be awarded for the best small, medium and large herd in the Munster region. An open stock-judging event will also take place on the day and it promises to be an occasion not to be missed.
