The Northern Ireland Aberdeen-Angus Club will be holding their annual Yearling and Calf show on Saturday 7th November 2015 in Dungannon Farmers Mart.
The club Chairman Frank Moore commented that “this is the showcase of the year for Aberdeen-Angus breeders in Northern Ireland. It affords the breeders a chance to demonstrate just how well their breeding programmes are working by exhibiting their young stock and the potential they hold.” He went on to say: “Some of these young Aberdeen-Angus cattle will go forward to have successful show careers and become breeding sensations in their own right.”
The judge for this years show will be Shane Mckiernan from the Drumcarbin herd in County Cavan. With Shane a keen exhibitor of Aberdeen-Angus cattle at both local and national shows in the Republic of Ireland, he has in the past enjoyed success at the 2011 RUAS Balmoral show in Belfast, taking the junior and reserve male Aberdeen-Angus championship with Drumcarbin Lord Hugo K116. Frank Moore added: “We look forward to welcoming Shane to Dungannon as he will have some 60 cattle to judge in both pedigree and commercial classes.”
The club chairman went on to say: “On behalf on our committee, I would like to thank our sponsors, exhibitors and members, for it is with the support from each of these that we are able to put on this showcase and hold our event. We are truly grateful for their continued help and support.”
The show is due to start at 10am with the young handler section followed by yearling classes, calf classes, commercial classes and then section championships. For further details about this event or becoming a club member please contact Freddie Davidson Tel:-07517166178.
