It was a great day yesterday at Stirling Agricultural Centre for the May Stirling Bull Sale, where champion for the day was Blelack Lord Hardie R615 from Messrs N F Massie and Sons, born on 06/09/2015, a Warrenho Emperor M425 calf out of Blelack Lady Heather L741. The day’s champion sold for 6,200gns to Scottish Government Bull Stud, Inverness.

Reserve Champion was lot 794 from first time exhibitor Miss Isla Maree Shaw of Saline, Fife, making 6,200gns. The bull Eastfield Jester R840, bred by Messrs T H Brewis, is a Halbeath Kansas L429 son out of Eastfield Janice L259, and was bought by Wauchop, Lochtower, Kelso. This October born bull was followed by another from the same home, only a month younger, a Weeton Legend L321 son that made 3,500gns.

Top price for the day went to the Trustees of the late Gordon R Brooke, with Linton Gilbertines Lazer R950 making 6,800gns. Linton Gilbertines Lazer R950 is an April born bull out of Rawburn Black Hawk L261 and Linton Gilbertines Lady Roma M620, who is a daughter of the 28,000gns bull Galawater Bentley H495. He was sold to Lindsay & Culnaightrie, Auchencairn, Castle Douglas.

Gretnahouse Lord Hit R818, from Alasdair Houston was next to make 6,000gns. A twin calf out of the 18,000gns Supreme Champion from February 2014, Haymount Precursor M255 and his dam is a full sister to the 25,000gns Lord Hidalgo.
First prize bull Westdrums Proud Iagan R178 from John M Steel Esq sold to 5,800gns. Son of Mosston Muir Mr Angus L288 (an embryo from Hoff First Edition 058 and Coldstream Miss Annie 58M) and dam Cardona Proud Isla G475.

In the same class was a top priced bull for Neil A Wattie Esq from Alfold, with Tonley Edmilson R288 making 5,800gns. The sire of this bull, Blelack Evor H929 had produced two Stirling Overall Champions selling at 24,000gns and 12,000gns, and is out of Tonley Easter M826, one of the Wattie’s best female lines.

Logie Dominant R560, a first prize winner for Messrs M Bruce and Partners, made 5500gns. This son of Idvies Kollar J431 and Logie Dawn H682 was matched later by second prize winner Logie Eyecatcher R596, a June born bull whose sire is Blelack Lord Hildalgo H972 and dam Logie Eyebright F481.

The first bull through the ring was from Wendy Willox, Clatt, Huntly, Strathinver, who’s Master Bonzo R012, a Mountjoy Poldark M021 son, made 5,500gns.

J Galloway Esq sold their first prize winner Cardona Jewel Eric R952 for 5,000gns. He is a son of Cardona Edwin M839 and Cardona Jewer L763.
Three further bulls made 4,800gns, including lot number 761, Tonley Jackpot Eric R189, lot 765 from the Firm of G Gray, Ettrick Mr Beaujangles R163 and lot 771 from Messrs J H C Campbell & Sons Thrunton, Plato R910.
