HW Netherton – 2nd Online Bull Sale

HW Netherton held its second online bull sale on Saturday 7 February, conducted by Harrison & Hetherington through the MartEye platform. All thirty bulls offered sold, achieving a 100% clearance with an average of £9,555. Nine bulls sold for 10,000gns or more, reflecting consistent demand throughout the catalogue.

Trade was led at 38,000gns by Lot 3, HW Manhattan A040, purchased by Mr David Ismail for his Fordel herd at Glenfarg, Perthshire. Sired by HW Mr Equilibrium, himself a son of the Australian sire Te Mania Emperor, Manhattan is out of HW May, an HW Abacus daughter. He carries 13 traits in the top 30% of the breed.

A new UK Red Aberdeen-Angus record was set at 13,000gns when Lot 9, HW Red Edinburgh A068 sold to Cogent Breeding Ltd, Chester. He is by HW Red Emperor and out of HW Evergreen, a daughter of HW Red Dabadoo.

At 12,600gns, Messrs Morrison of Torphins, Aberdeenshire secured Lot 23, HW Mr Pittsburg A114. He is by HW Mr Pride and out of HW Madame Pride, an SAV America daughter. Lot 22, HW Black Bordeaux A113, also realised 12,600gns when purchased by Messrs Pilcher, Zennor, St Ives, Cornwall. He is by Brissac Hampton and out of HW Blackbird, a daughter of HW Aranguez.

Lot 33, MCE Black Rumm A190, sold for 11,600gns to Messrs Braid, Wamphray, Moffat, Dumfriesshire. He is by HW Mr Equilibrium and out of HW Netherton Blackbird, an HW Evander daughter. Lot 10, HW Muthill Princess A078, made 10,600gns when purchased by Messrs Gauld, Auchterarder, Perthshire. He is by HW Mr Equilibrium and out of HW Madame Price, an HF El Tigre daughter.

Two bulls made 10,400gns. Lot 4, HW Kentucky A046, by HW Mr Equilibrium and out of HW Kandy, was purchased by Messrs Houstoun, Blacklunas, Blairgowrie. Lot 21, HW Kansas A112, by HW Mr Pride and out of HW Karama, sold to Messrs Wilson, Jedburgh, Roxburghshire. Lot 25, Netherton Knight, by HW Mr Equilibrium and out of Netherton Karama, realised 10,200gns when purchased by Messrs Duncan, Balfron Station, Glasgow.

The timed auction ran over two days and concluded under a racehorse-style closing system, with all lots remaining open until 40 seconds had passed without a bid.
