RNAS Spring Show & Sale at Thainstone & Melton Mowbray Pedigree Native Cattle Sale

A smaller entry of pedigree Aberdeen-Angus bulls were forward at both the RNAS Spring Show & Sale at Thainstone, Inverurie, and the Pedigree Native Cattle Sale at Melton Mowbray Market, with good quality cattle on offer at each.

RNAS Spring Show & Sale, Thainstone

The Royal Northern Spring Show & Sale was held at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie, on Wednesday 25 February, hosted by Aberdeen & Northern Marts.

The top price of 7,000gns was paid for Ballindalloch Phoenix A741, by Rosemead January W189 out of Ballindalloch Pam X619, which sold to J A Eddie, Easttown, Glenbervie, Stonehaven.

Reserve Champion was Cairnton Krack Master A521, by Rulesmains Phillip X557 out of Cairnton Karisma S404, which sold for 4,000gns to J & A Kindness (A Firm), Blackhouse, Methlick, Ellon.

The Aberdeen-Angus championship went to Blelack Hill Empire A066, a son of Blelack Hill Blue Lightening Y006 out of Tonley Ester Y928, exhibited by Messrs A N Calcott & Son, Blelack, Dinnet, after securing top place in his class.

Melton Mowbray Pedigree Native Cattle Sale

The Pedigree Native Cattle Sale took place at Melton Mowbray Market on Saturday 28 February and was judged by Jessica Musk of the Park Wall Aberdeen-Angus herd, Bury St Edmunds.

Tree Bridge Pullman A107, exhibited by Mr & Mrs D Evans, Middlesbrough, won the Aberdeen-Angus championship before securing the Overall Interbreed Supreme Champion title. The April 2024-born bull, by Te Mania Legend L646 out of Tree Bridge Polly Pride X888, sold for 7,200gns to Mr John Steel for the Westdrums herd in Duns.

Glympton Pac Man A593, by Glympton Perseus X385 out of Shadwell Pam Annie U077, stood second in his class, followed by Glympton Duke A595, also by Glympton Perseus X385 out of Glympton Duchess G302, in third place.
