The European Regional Focal Point for Animal Genetic Resources (ERFP) is the regional platform to support the conservation and sustainable use of animal genetic resources (AnGR) and to facilitate the implementation of FAO’s Global Plan of Action for AnGR.

Genebanks of reproductive or genetic material are key actors in the conservation of the animal genetic diversity (both local and mainstream breeds) for future generations, in particular in the global context of food and nutrition security and climate change.

Since 2016, ERFP is developing the European Genebank Network for AnGR (EUGENA), a network of Member Genebanks in European countries with the aim to support the ex situ conservation and sustainable use of AnGR. You can find all the information about EUGENA in this flyer and by clicking here

To strengthen the development of EUGENA, the ERFP has launched a call to further identify institutions in Europe holding Genebanks of reproductive or genetic material of AnGR and build an European Inventory of animal reproductive/genetic Genebanks.

Possibly your institution manages a Genebank or has knowledge about such institutions. We appreciate it if you can help us to identify the Genebanks in Europe by the collection of information demanded in a questionnaire.
