We are delighted to be sponsoring the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) Congress which is starting today and until the 8th September 2014, across the North East of Scotland in Aberdeenshire, Angus, Banffshire and Moray.
The British Guild of Agricultural Journalists will host this year’s prestigious event on behalf of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists with the theme ‘Innovations from a Small Island’. The event has been developedto showcase British food and innovative farming to the global media. IFAJ2014 will attract 220 leading journalists and influential media representatives from across 32 countries worldwide.
We are supporting the event by hosting a farm tour featuring the Tonley Aberdeen-Angus Herd at Mains of Tonley, Alford, Aberdeenshire where delegates will hear all about the award winning herd and enjoy a delicious lunch of Aberdeen-Angus beef.
Ron McHattie, Chief Executive at Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society, said: “The IFAJ Congress is a key event in the international agricultural media calendar, and we are very proud to be part of it this year. It provides a fantastic opportunity for Scotland to showcase its forward-thinking farming industry, and for the Society, it provides us with an unrivalled platform to promote our world-famous Aberdeen-Angus breed.”
The Tonley Herd tour will take place on Saturday 6th September at 9.30 am where Ron will provide a short address to the delegation, highlighting the Society’s latest news including our recent commitment to the DNA sampling of every pedigree calf at birth, as well as providing insight into how the world famous Aberdeen-Angus breed maintains its premium price within the industry.
