An Aberdeen-Angus bull is set to be auctioned for charity next month, when Sir Moir Lockhead and his daughter, Claire, offer their bull Glassel Dark Mist for sale at the Thainstone Christmas Class on 1 December.
Dark Mist, a son of Eastfield Jacobite K149 is out of Glassel Diamond Mist F507, herself the result of an imported Canadian embryo and sired by DMM Flex 3M.
The proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Grampian Transport Museum, Alford, Aberdeenshire, of which Sir Moir is patron and which itself celebrates the role the Aberdeen-Angus breed and its developer, William McCombie, played in developing the transport network in the area, notably the railhead at Alford which was crucial in the transport of Aberdeen-Angus cattle across Great Britain as their popularity grew.
Alongside the sale of Dark Mist himself the auction will also feature a painting of the bull by respected local artist Howard Butterworth, with the proceeds from the sale of the artwork also being donated to the Grampian Transport Museum.
