Leading the reduction of Ken and Margaret Howie’s Cairnton sale, which took place last week at the ANM Christmas Classic Show at Thainstone, was the September 2012-born stock bull Haymount Walarlo M303, selling for 5500gns.
Bred by the Arnott family, this Blelack Prince Carl J237 son is out of the Old Glenort Kallum D784 daughter, Haymount Walluma J899 and sold carrying a terminal sire index of +38 and self replacing index of +55 to commercial farmers W G and H Murray, Golspie.
Of the females on offer the best call was 3100gns given by D Maclellan, Maud, Peterhead, who secured the March 2015-born Ciarnton Blackcap R390. By the previously mentioned stock bull, this one is out of an Oakchurch Dominator G035 daughter, Blelack Blackcap K379.
Next best at 3000gns and finding a new home with the Massie family of Blelack, Dinnet, was Cairnton Karisma M331, a March 2012-born Kitewood Kingdom H047 daughter out of Wedderlie Karisma A322, herself a Tui Tidy Ben daughter. This one was offered four months in calf to Cairnton Phillanderer M333.
Four animals then sold for 2800gns, the first of which was Blelack Blackcap K379, the mother of the 3100gns top priced female. She’s out of a Young Dale Monarch 12E daughter and sold having run with the sale leading stock bull. This one carries a self replacing index of +42 and was knocked down to Schivas Estate, Ellon, Aberdeenshire.
The next at this money was Cairnton Karisma K298, a May 2010-born Blelack Evergreat C689 daughter and half sister to the previously mentioned Karisma. This one also joined the Massie family.
The next lot in the ring, Cairnton Kind Golly L315, another Kitewood Kingdom H047 daughter, this time out of a home bred Paragon of Fordafourie daughter. She stays in Aberdeenshire with J and B Maud, Peterhead.
Cupar-based Linda McKendrick then secured Cairnton Kind Golly P368 for her Arnydie herd. By fordel Enniskillen H512, this one is out of a home bred Kitewood Kingdom H047 daughter and carries a terminal sire index of +45 and a self replacing index of +61.
