We hope everyone has had a great week, with the snowy weather disappearing, even though the snow was replaced by wind for many of us! Here is your weekly round-up of news from the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society.

The Review

The printers and distributors of the Review informed us that they encountered a slight problem on their mailing line, which delayed the delivery to all members. We understand that some members are still to receive their copy, and thank you for your understanding and patience with regard to this. These are being delivered individually up and down the country and we have received assurance from the distributors that those which have not yet been delivered will be delivered by the middle of next week at the absolute latest, ensuring you still receive your copy prior to the Stirling Bull Sales and AGM. We understand and share your frustration, having expected to receive the Review earlier than is now the case, and therefore thank you for your understanding and patience.

The Review will remain exclusive to members via the hard copies for a period of time, after which we will be looking at the possibility of releasing an electronic version, to further spread the reach of the magazine and its content to overseas and those who are not currently members.

Cattle enquiries

This week, we received a selection of enquiries about cattle sought for purchase which was shared on the website for members. The first was an enquiry from Catherine and Pascal Krebs, French breeders who are seeking Aberdeen-Angus heifers for purchase. Farm walk events

We brought you the news that the NBA Midlands committee are holding two farm walks this February as they host two knowledge sharing, networking events in Northamptonshire. These events are open to all with an interest in the beef industry, and are free to attend and should be filled with interesting information for those who attend. Breeder of the future

We intend to profile a selection of young breeders and enthusiasts throughout 2018. We value these youngsters and their interest in our breed very highly, as they will be the people to drive the breed and the overall industry forward in years to come. This week, we got the chance to speak to Lois Scott who works on her family farm just outside Glamis. Stirling Bull Sales

The first part of the Scottish Farmer’s Stirling Bull Sales preview is out this weekend, with an interesting feature piece on the Crailinghall Aberdeen-Angus herd of Robert Barbour and his sons Graham and Scott, from Crailinghall in Jedburgh.
