We informed you late last week about how the weather wasn’t the only thing that was sizzling at the May Carlisle Show and Sale, with some fantastic prices being achieved across the board – for both the Society sale and the Blelack sale which also took place on the day.
The Society sale saw 54 bulls sold for an average price of £4,153.33 and 3 heifers Served or Maiden at £2,240.
The day’s supreme champion and senior male champion was Cheeklaw Parker R514 from DG & C Lucas of the Cheeklaw Herd in Berwickshire, sired by Cardona Proud Punch L752 and out of Cheeklaw Petrina G284 sold for 4,500gns to C Edwards, Colwinston. Reserve senior male champion selling for 5,000gns was Ettrick Goldeneye R161 of the Ettrick herd in Selkirk, the Borders, sired by Ettrick Rockafella M109 and out of Ettrick Gaenor H034.

Taking the reserve overall and junior male champion was Gretnahouse Jack Eric R832, sired by Haymount Precursor M255 and out of Blelack Jury Erica K395 selling for an impressive 12,000gns to Stewart Craft. Reserve junior champion went to Blelack Topclass R626 from Messrs NF Massie & Sons, selling for 7,000gns to G D Herdman, Alnwick

In the female category, the day’s champion was Duncanziemere Edwina S193 from A Clark & Sons, sired by Rawburn Jester Eric J034 and out of Duncanziemere Edwina M017 selling for 3,000 gns to Rand Contracting, Royston. Female reserve Auchengray Eulova R285 sold for for 1,800gns also to Rand Contracting.

Top price in the Blelack sale, Blelack Toplass M847 by Blelack Equity J127 and out of Blelack Toplass F552 went for a very impressive 16,000gns to R J & D Loftus of the Weeton herd who also purchased Blelack Pride N114 by Carrington Park Time on B7 out of Blelack Pristine K536 for 10,000 gns. Selling at 8,000gns to S & S Medley of the Saville herd was Blelack Lylie N204 by Blelack Equity J127 out of Blelack Kutie L663, same price was paid for Blelack Top Lass P423 by Hallington Principal M367 and out of Blelack Toplass M847 selling to C W Foster, Manorfield herd
