Beefing Up The Hills – 20th July

05.07.2016

Moredun has announced a free day meeting designed to help farmers and vets achieve more effective control of disease and increase productivity within beef suckler herds.

The event, which takes place at Ballindalloch Home Farm, Ballindalloch, Banffshire, on Wednesday 20th July, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Oliver Russell, will also include an introduction to the Aberdeen-Angus breeding policy within the Ballindalloch herd by farm manager David Johnstone.

Healthy and productive cattle are key to the efficiency and profitability of a suckler herd unit and talks and discussions throughout the day will highlight infertility, key disease control strategies, the importance of micro nutrition using forage analysis and an overview of upland beef production. An option to visit the Aberdeen-Angus herd will follow the talks.

A panel discussion chaired by Nigel Miller will follow lunch. The meeting starts at 10am and is open to all. Please RSVP to beth.wells@moredun.ac.uk by 11th July.
