The Castlelough herd of Edward Dudley, Kilsunny Hse, Dovea, Thurles, Co Tipperary provided the sale topper at the recent multi-breed bull sales held at Kilkenny Mart yesterday (Wednesday, April 15th) with the home bred senior yearling Aberdeen Angus bull Castlelough Midnight Brandy N130.
Castlelough Midnight Brandy N130 had been awarded first prize in the pre-sale show earlier on the day and attracted a flurry of bids in the sales ring, eventually being knocked down at €3900, which proved to be the day’s top price of the sale, to pedigree breeder John Barlow, Aherlow, Co. Tipperary to run with his 20 cow Gurtavoher pedigree herd.
Midnight Brandy N130 enjoyed a tremendous season on the summer show circuit last year winning six first prizes, as well as taking rosettes at both Tullamore and the All Ireland Aberdeen-Angus finals in Mohill last summer. He is a paternal brother to Castlelough Master Bentley K095, who had topped this sale in Kilkenny back in March 2012.
