Judging the Aberdeen-Angus entry at Fermanagh County’s 182nd Show was James Porter from the Old Glenort Herd based at the Gilhall Estate in Dromore.
He awarded the Northern Bank Trophy for the overall champion to Denamona Ida T264 bred by Moses Irwin (pictured above) who runs a herd of 60 pedigree cows at Fintona in County Tyrone. This January 2017 born heifer was sired by stock bull Glassel Del L886. She was champion at Omagh in early July.
Claiming the day’s reserve supreme award was the Parke Family’s Coolermoney Frances T703. Sired by Hallington Edition M362, her dam is one of seven cows in the Strabane-based herd. This February 2017 born heifer has won a string of rosettes on the summer show circuit, including junior and reserve supreme champion at the 150th Balmoral Show; and the Ulster Provincial Trophy at Newry Show. She also claimed the supreme championships at Ballymoney, Ballymena, Limavady, Newry, Antrim and Clogher.
