Friday update: 3rd November 2017

03.11.2017

Now that the clocks have gone back and the dark nights have drawn in, Winter is well and truly on its way but we’re just as busy as always. This is your Friday update of all the activity and news from the Society in the last seven days.

Show and Sale news:

We’ve been coming to you live from the ring today at the Agri Expo in Carlisle for what has been a great day with an excellent show of cattle in all Aberdeen-Angus classes. Mr Alan Lawson from the Hallington Aberdeen-Angus Herd has been casting his careful eye over all entries as judge on the day, and taking top honours as overall male Champion was Lot 602 – McCornick Kerry’s Boy S215 from Martin McCornick. Martin has had a great couple of weeks after taking the Reserve Champion at Stirling last week too. We hope you’ve enjoyed seeing highlights from the classes which have been shared throughout the day on the Facebook page, and we look forward to bringing you a full report next week. The full presidential team were present at the Agri Expo today, and President Alex Sanger had the following to say: ‘’From a Society point of view, all exhibitors can be very proud after today, with what was among the best shows of cattle we’ve had from Aberdeenshire to Cornwall. I’d also like to commend Alan Lawson who has done an excellent job judging today.’’ For now, you can see the results from the classes on the Harrison & Hetherington website at: https://harrisonandhetherington.co.uk/agri-expo/agri-expo-2017/.

The Cornwall Pedigree Calf Show took place in the last week at Royal Cornwall Showground. The overall Aberdeen-Angus champion was awarded to I D & D Rowe’s heifer Bosullow Pride T453 born 28th January 2017 out of Bosullow Pride G208 and by Bosullow Balck Ryual N355. Mr & Mrs Rowe also took the overall Reserve Breed Champion with their bull calf Bosullow Blackpendra.

We also brought you the results and the full report from the Southern England Aberdeen-Angus Calf Show. On the day, it was our YDP co-ordinator Gayle Bersey of the Lynher Valley Aberdeen Angus herd in Cornwall who took the Supreme Championship with Lynher Valley Enymeenyminymow T088, by Idvies Euris B112 and out of Round House Elma M281.
