Leading trade at €4000 at the Irish Premier Show and Sale at the weekend was Albert and Jennifer De Cogan, selling the 13-month old Mogeely Lord Blender R399. By the successful show bull Wedderlie Blackbox J935, he’s out of Mogeely Lady Blossom L107 and sold to a dairy farmer from Northern Ireland.
Next best was Eustace and Diedre Burke selling Clontead Master R187, an Oakchurch Dirk son. He exchanged hands at €3000 and sold to Northern Ireland.
The top priced heifer came from Jack Smyth, Newtownstewart, Co. Tyrone, who sold Bessiebell Lavendar R652 for €3500. This one is sired by Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 and sold to Henry Dudley for the Castlelough herd.
Alan Morrison, Maguiresbridge then achieved the second highest price in the female section, selling his reserve female champion, Drummer Poppy R482, for €3300. A daughter of Lana Knightly N513, this April 2015 born heifer is due to calve next summer and she sold to NI breeder John Blackburn, Clogher, Co. Tyrone.
