It is with great sadness that we report the death of one of the longest-serving members of the North East England Angus Club, Peter Turnbull. Peter was always to be found at Angus functions the world over, and indeed built his whole farming business around Aberdeen-Angus cattle both selling and hiring home-bred bulls into his local area. He was chairman of the North East Club for a number of years and did a stint with the Society Council too. He was a familiar face at a lot of local markets too, selling finished and store cattle, and built up a good following over the years.

Peter was always a strong supporter of local shows, with a dram or two after showing from the back of his pickup, and a good selection of wife Jean’s baking to add to the celebrations. The loss will be felt by many across the wider community. Peter was also a keen supporter of the shooting scene as well. The back bar of his local was known as Peter’s office, where much business was conducted. At any function Peter was always very good company, and he leaves a hole that will never be filled. He was immensely proud of his family — son Alan, daughter Marion, and all his grandchildren, who adored him. Condolences to wife Jean, Alan, Marion, and the rest of the wider Turnbull family.
