Brailes Black Boy A360 topped the trade at 15,000gns at the Aberdeen-Angus sale held at United Auctions, Stirling, on Bank Holiday Monday. The Overall and Junior Champion, under judge Ivan Forsythe, led the sale which saw a 71% clearance and an average of £7,237.
Brailes Black Boy A360, Yearling Male Champion at The Beef Expo 2025 and Senior Male Champion at Stars of the Future 2025, is sired by Tonley Ronald X800 and out of Brailes Black Bee Y254. He carries a Terminal Sire Index (TSI) of +47 and a Self-Replacing Index (SRI) of +58, and was bought by W. Dunlop & Sons, Dunbar, East Lothian.
Closely following at 14,000gns was Tonley Enzo A204 from Messrs G & N Taylor, which also stood as Senior Champion and Reserve Overall Champion. Tonley Enzo, with a TSI of +43 and SRI of +54, sold to Robert Galloway, Cardona Farm, Perthshire.
Three bulls then sold for 10,000gns. First at this level was Mosshall Presley A701, an April 2024-born bull sired by Isauld Lord Hector T816 and out of Mosshall Red Pebble U875, which was purchased by the Scottish Government Bull Stud, Inverness. Also at this price was Senior Reserve Champion Tonley Jumpingjack A193, sired by Tonley Endgame X809 and out of Tonley Julia V600, carrying figures of TSI +41 and SRI +56, and purchased by J. W. Weir, Stow, Galashiels. The third to realise 10,000gns was Newton Equator A176, sired by Blelack Hill Blue Lightening Y006 and out of Blelack Evora U920, from Ray Gardinar Esq, and sold to J. W. Delday, Turriff, Aberdeenshire.
The Scottish Government Bull Stud was again in action at 9,500gns for Scotsmill Fergus A177, Reserve Junior Champion, sired by Scotsmill Neil Y783 and out of Scotsmill Fiona V304. Galcantray Edinburgh A852 reached 8,000gns, sired by Raddery Jackflash Eric V245 and out of Galcantray Eurivine W372, and sold to R & D Farquhar, Tewel Farm, Kincardineshire.
Another three bulls met 7,000gns, two of which came from JM & LM Forbes, Nairn, both sired by Auchincrieve Jumanji Eric U304. The first, Lochdhu Enzo A170, sold to D. McCormick, Isle of Islay, Argyll, while the second, Lochdhu Mr Boombastic A377, was purchased by the Scottish Government Bull Stud. The third at this level was Murdoch Allan Fergus A007, sired by Drumhill Primecut X155 and out of Nightingale Queen Lois N699, which sold to W. Semple, Campbeltown, Argyll.
