The Worcester Spring Sale saw a 71% clearance with 5 Aberdeen-Angus bulls finding new homes to an average of £6600, up £1783 on the year with the sale topping at 10 000gns. Proceedings kicked off on Saturday 19th April with Lot 7, Foxhill Prince Cartier Z181 from Michael and Melanie Alford standing champion and Lot 16 Oakchurch Donna A512 from Jeremy Price as reserve champion.
Sale topper, Woodmoss Spartacus Z078, a November 2023 born bull from The Webster Family is by Blelack Egotist X151. He was second in his class and stood Reserve Junior Male Champion and Reserve Overall Male Champion. Spartacus is out of The Moss Sparthea W628. Spartacus had also stood reserve champion yearling bull at the 2024 Aberdeen-Angus Winter National at Agri-Expo. He heads off to Angus Neish’s Rodmead herd.
Second top in the sale at 8000gns was Lot 7 Foxhill Prince Cartier Z181 who also stood junior champion male and overall champion on the day. Out of Blelack Princess Caroline U902 who the Alfords purchased for 32,000gns at the Blelack Dispersal and sired by Weeton Evolution R447. He heads off to the Daylesford herd.
Following on at 6000gns was the second entry from the Foxhill stable with Lot 5 Foxhill Prince Consort Z261 an August 2023 born bull. Prince Consort was 1st in his class and stood Senior Male Champion. He is an embryo son of Kilmaluag Eriskay T203 and Blelack Princess Caroline T867. He heads south to Michael Poland’s Mottistone herd in Southampton
Following in at 5000gns was lot 4 Tree Bridge Emery Z048, a May 2023 born son of Tree Bridge Paterson U737 and out of Tree Bridge Ermine U722 from the David and Penny Evans from Middlesbrough. Emery stood second in his class and went on to be Reserve Senior Male Champion. He heads to Wales with D L Owens and Sons.
The hammer fell for a final time at 4000gns for Lot 10, Oakchurch Draper A514, a January 2024 born bull by Cardona Edwin. Out of Oakchurch Daisy U335, Draper stays local to join the Cook’s Hanging Bank herd.
Aberdeen-Angus females also had a good day with an average of £2902 for the 12 heifers sold and £6300 for the cow and calf.
Oakchurch led the female charge with lot 16, Oakchurch Donna A512. Also sired by Cardona Edwin W156, she is a January 2024 born daughter of Oakchurch Donna W384, she was knocked down at 5000gns to Angus Neish for his Rodmead herd.
Next up from the same stable was Oakchurch Evora A515. Another Edwin daughter, she is out of Oakchurch Evora U329 and heads to the Parker’s Mereside herd at 4000gns.
Another Edwin daughter from Oakchurch followed this at 3800gns. This time Oakchurch Delia A519. Out of Oakchurch Delia X438, she again went to the Merside herd.
Oakchurch topped out their performance in the females with the cow and calf pair of Oakchurch Delia X435 and her daughter by Rawburn Loaded U670, Delia A535 raising 6000gns for the unit. They head off to the Westaway’s Melview herd in Gloucestershire
