Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society – Stirling May Sale 2023

The Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society held their annual spring breeding sale at United Auctions Stirling on Monday 1^st May, where the 20 forward met a solid trade, averaging £4589 with a clearance rate of 77%.  The pre-sale champion, ably judged by Andrew Adam of Newhouse of Glamis, was Ross Farms’ Roscoe Eruption X292, which went on to top the sale at £7875.  This September 2021 born youngster, sired by Logie Politician, sported a +31 Terminal Sire Index and +40 Self Replacing Index figure.  Next best price on the day also followed the judging, with the Reserve Champion making £6825, being Retties Riverdance X215 for vendors Richard and Carol Rettie.  Riverdance was second to the Champion and followed him through to reserve overall, and was home bred on both dam and sire side.  The Rettie team sold 4 bulls to average £4988 for the day.  Another sought after bull was the next best priced in the shape of Thrunton Pegasus X479, consigned by JHC Campbell & Sons, Thrunton, Alnwick, who sold a third prize bull to £6090, and with the help of their second bull which made £4200, they averaged £5250 for the pair.  Matching that average were messrs D & P Murray, Wolflaw who also sold a pair to average £5250, with their top being the second prize Wolflaw Edward X826 which sold at £5500.  Neil Wattie, Tonley, Aberdeenshire had a solid day’s trade selling 3 bulls to average £3850, and a top of £5250 for Tonley Ronnie X883.  Andrew Mylius & Partners sold a pair of bulls to a top of £5250 and an average of £4725 for the pair.
