New Angus Direct Online Bull Sale Set for 12–14 March
The inaugural Angus Direct Online Bull Sale, organised by the Solway Aberdeen-Angus Club and supported by the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society, will take place from Thursday 12 March to Saturday 14 March 2026.
The sale will run on the MartEye online bidding platform, with the auction managed by Harrison & Hetherington, allowing buyers to view and bid on pedigree Aberdeen-Angus bulls directly from their own farm.
The idea for the sale was developed by Kit Acton of the Housesteads Herd in Northumberland, a member of the Solway Aberdeen-Angus Club, who recognised a demand from commercial producers seeking high health status bulls available direct from farm.
Kit Acton said: “We recognised there was demand from commercial producers for high health status bulls available directly from farm. Selling cattle direct from farm to farm allows buyers to purchase with confidence in the herd’s health status and management, while the online format helps maintain this by avoiding unnecessary animal movements prior to sale.”
While the concept was originally developed within the Solway Aberdeen-Angus Club, the sale has since expanded to include breeders from across the North of England and Dumfriesshire in Scotland. The inaugural sale will feature bulls from herds based in Middlesbrough, Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Durham and Dumfriesshire.
A spokesperson for Harrison & Hetherington said:
“Harrison & Hetherington’s are delighted to be hosting the first online Aberdeen-Angus Bull sale on behalf of the Solway Angus Club. The selection of bulls on offer have top quality genetics, power, flesh & correctness throughout. There really is a bull to suit everyone. Vendors are more than happy to take enquiries on the bulls and viewers are more than welcome.”
Herds taking part in the sale include:
Housesteads, Crookhill, Harold, Thrunton, Tree Bridge and Kingholm.
