Welcome to the inaugural Black Gold select sale. I believe there’s a real opportunity in the market for an elite female sale and holding it here in the north-east of Scotland—the birthplace of the Aberdeen-Angus breed—feels absolutely right.
The selection process has been rigorous. I’ve visited the majority of herds personally to handpick the best heifers, while other vendors have sent videos and photographs to ensure every animal meets our exacting standards. The goal has been simple: to offer buyers exceptional quality heifers that will either enhance their existing operation or lay the foundations for a truly outstanding herd.
The catalogue features a balanced mix of yearling heifers and 2025-born heifer calves, all of which have been selected for showing at the Black Beauty Bonanza calf show. In Aberdeen-Angus breeding, cow families are everything. The consistency and longevity of a female line can define a herd’s success for generations, so I’d encourage every buyer to research the bloodlines on offer here.
We’ve assembled some of the UK’s most prestigious herds and cow families for this sale. Several vendors rarely, if ever, sell heifers off-farm, while others are offering females publicly for the first time. It’s a genuinely exciting lineup for the 26th of November.
