Royal Highland Showcase Event 14/6/2021
The Show machine starts to roll again with Aberdeen Angus breeders turning out to show their wares in the shop window which this year was known as the “Highland Showcase2 Covid restrictions kept the crowds away from what would have been the Royal Highland Show week this week where arguably the most prestigious of rosettes sashes and prize money is available to all who compete.
Andrew Adam of Newhouse was the judge and put all the animals and exhibitors through their paces with the cobwebs blown off the combs and spray tins for the day a blustery morning saw some 21 animals forward to the show ring.
A very different show saw the native breeds being put through their paces on Monday the 14th June 2021 and coming out Champion was catalogue entry 1209, Weeton Blackbird V519 born 30th March 2019 a daughter of Rawburn Boss hogg from the herd of Richard Hassal and Rachel Wylie’ Brails Livestock admirably prepared and Shown by Carol Rettie.
Reserve breed Champion was lot number 1212 Kilmaluig Lord Blackbeauty W228 A son of Water End Payton and Blelack Lady Blackcap S406 from the Skye breeder Donald Rankin and again prepared and shown by Richard Rettie
The two animals above went on to win the Interbreed Pairs competition which was judged by all the individual breed judges in a panel format for the Highland Showcase 2021 and vindicated the choice of Andrew Adam for his two champions.
